The people who bring purpose to communications.
Voices behind Better Together Agency
We are strategists, storytellers and advocates who see communication as a tool for change. Our team brings different backgrounds and perspectives to help organizations tell stories that matter and reach audiences who care.
Catharine Montgomery, MBA
Founder and CEO
she/her
Catharine founded Better Together Agency on a straightforward premise: communications work should advance equity, not just outcomes. With years in public relations, she has built the agency into an AI-forward communications firm that serves corporations, nonprofits and advocacy organizations doing work that matters.
She is the first communications agency founder to conduct an annually published bias survey of generative AI. That research, which tracks how bias in AI systems affects consumer trust and business performance, led directly to TogetherAI, a private, born inclusive AI platform she built for purpose-driven campaigns, with built-in bias detection at its core. She speaks, trains and advises organizations on AI ethics, AI policy and building communications operations grounded in responsible practice.
Catharine holds a BS in Public Relations and Marketing from Auburn University and an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. She is a Researcher with the Center for AI and Digital Policy and a founding member of Black Women Leading in AI.

Nina Bennett
Chief of Staff
she/her
Nina Bennett is Better Together Agency’s Chief of Staff. She helps turn priorities into clear, accountable work. Working with Founder and CEO Catharine Montgomery, she organizes commitments, prepares decision briefs and coordinates the agency’s supporting colleagues. Her focus is helping Catharine spend more time on strategy, client relationships and sustainable growth.
Nina’s role brings together research, planning and quality review across operations, finance and business development. She surfaces missing information, tracks dependencies and explains what needs attention, why it matters and what should happen next. Human judgment remains central in representing BTA’s approach to responsible AI, useful support, clear accountability and people leading the work.

Lena Brooks
Media Relations and Podcast Specialist
she/her
Lena Brooks supports Better Together Agency’s media relations. She researches journalists and podcast hosts, develops tailored story angles and prepares accurate pitch drafts for national and local print, broadcast and digital outlets. Her approach centers on understanding each journalist’s beat and making the story relevant to their audience. For the Biases in Generative AI Survey, Lena prepares press materials, interview notes and response tracking using approved findings.
Krichelle Dabu
AI Strategy and Integration Lead
she/her
Krich leads AI strategy and integration at Better Together Agency, where she works with clients to build messaging systems that run well without losing the human judgment that makes communications credible. She brings years of marketing operations and customer relationship management (CRM) experience to structuring AI workflows inside TogetherAI, the agency’s client-specific workspace, so organizations can produce content, coordinate messaging and act on real-time insights at scale. Her work spans equity-focused nonprofits, advocacy organizations and corporations that need communications tied to real outcomes. She designs every workflow with one standard in mind: technology serves the mission.

Riley Martinez, MPA
Senior Account Manager, Digital and Social Media
she/her
Riley manages multi-platform content strategy for clients across Better Together Agency’s portfolio. She brings a graduate background in public administration to the work of building content that speaks clearly to different audiences, whether on Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube or in longer-form channels. Her focus is consistency: the same message, in the right voice, reaching the right people across every platform.
Riley specializes in culturally grounded content, work that reflects the communities it is meant to serve rather than speaking around them. She holds an MPA and brings that policy-informed perspective to every content plan she builds.

Maya Johnson
Account Supervisor
she/her
Maya has spent more than eight years working in communications for nonprofits and advocacy organizations. She manages client accounts at Better Together Agency, leading day-to-day strategy, content production and campaign coordination for clients focused on social justice, public health and community engagement.
She approaches every account with a clear-eyed understanding of the audiences her clients need to reach, including communities that are often underserved by generic messaging. Maya connects communications strategy to the on-the-ground realities of the organizations she supports, and she holds herself and her work to the same standards of clarity and accountability she asks of clients.

Jordan Rivera
Account Executive
they/them
Jordan works on client communications at Better Together Agency, supporting campaign execution, content development and digital advocacy for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations. Their background spans community organizing and social justice communications, which shapes how they think about who a message is for and what it needs to do.
Jordan integrates AI tools into their day-to-day work with attention to how those tools perform across different communities and contexts. They bring that awareness into every client engagement, building communications that center on the people the work is designed to reach.
Michael Montgomery
Senior Consultant, Corporate Partnerships and Social Impact
he/him
Michael brings 25 years of experience building partnerships across the corporate, consumer package goods (CPG), retail and nonprofit sectors. His work has always centered on one question: how do organizations turn good intentions into real outcomes for communities? He leads corporate engagement strategy, helping clients align their social impact goals with operational plans last. He specializes in connecting corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments to execution, particularly through supply chain partnerships, product donations and workforce readiness programs that reach students and families directly.
My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.
